Good afternoon
My mother lives along Hampden Road and is wanting me to get her a mobile phone, primarily as a back up for when the land line goes down ( as it has done at least three times recently).
It would seem most neighbours are on Vodafone but sometimes need to go to an outside door, or beyond, to get an adequate reception. I, too, am on Vodafone and can rarely get a reception inside the house when I visit.
I'd be grateful, therefore, if other people living in the vicinity would share their experience of other providers.
Many thanks.

Hi Malcolm, Sorry your post has gone unanswered. Mobile reception throughout the village is pretty dire. Yes, there were landline problems earlier in the year, but they are generally rare. I use BT mobile (as bad as vodaphone) and also Vodaphone (Tesco). Some houses are OK, but most have next to zero reception. Try asking the question through the Village website (SpeenBucks.org.uk) - I'll see if I can get some views and reply again before the end of August

Hi Malcolm. I'm on O2. Often do a dog walk including a stretch of Hampden Road and from checking cricket scores(!) I can say the reception is mainly poor but just about there, except for the dip round Coleheath Bottom where it goes completely. SO you may want to find somebody with an O2 mobile to try out in your mother's house. Good luck!

Hi Malcom. I have replied three times but does not seem to appear on the forum. Anyway, what you need is SureSignal which is a service from Vodafone which uses the internet to boost the mobile signal. We have used it for about three/four years and have a perfect signal around the house and garden.
